The road that led me to Chiropractic

Growing up, my entire family visited the chiropractor for occasional check-ups. With some education about what chiropractic was all about, I realized that the chiropractic mindset was intuitive; the philosophy of honoring the body’s inborn intelligence, allowing the body to heal itself, and addressing the root cause of an issue resonated with my personal philosophy on health and well-being. When I was approximately 12 years old, I decided that I would eventually become a chiropractor.

Although I knew that chiropractic care could benefit many patients with many conditions, I admit that I was partially missing the big picture of why chiropractic care was important. I, like many other chiropractic patients, operated in the mindset of “come in when your back hurts”. It wasn’t until early on in chiropractic school that I fully recognized the potential that chiropractic care could offer patients.

Chiropractors affect the nervous system, housed within the spine, which is why patients get their spines adjusted at chiropractic visits. The nervous system controls all cells, organs, and tissues within the body. With an optimally functioning nervous system, patients are less likely to have pain, dysfunction, and a myriad of other symptoms throughout their bodies. By getting their nervous systems checked regularly, patients can avoid symptoms; by addressing the root cause of an issue, regular chiropractic care can help patients before any noticeable symptoms can even manifest.

And the coolest part is this—the body is healing itself! Chiropractic is simply facilitating that healing!

Chiropractic Education

Then I had a lightbulb moment: if, as a chiropractor, I wanted patients to be proactive about their health and get checked prior to having pain or other symptoms, why not focus on chiropractic care for children? As Frederick Douglass once said, “it is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men”. Thus my focus on pediatric chiropractic care began.

I attended North Central College in Naperville, Illinois for my undergraduate studies, where I attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in business administration. I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic to earn my Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree, where I was heavily involved with the Palmer Pediatrics Club, serving as president. Prior to graduating from chiropractic school, I began my post-graduate training through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA); I am currently Webster Technique certified through the ICPA.

Chiropractic Philosophy

My focus is on facilitating vitality throughout pregnancy, the birth process, childhood, and into adulthood. My focus lies with gentle, neurologically-based chiropractic care, although I am trained in many different adjusting techniques.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office. I look forward to the opportunity to meet your entire family.
